This short guide is a reference tool to help refresh your knowledge or practise what you have learned in the Service Victoria online course, including how to:

  • create a Service Victoria account to access and manage personal information
  • access essential services an everyday savings
  • claim rebates and lost superannuation.

Welcome to Service Victoria

Service Victoria lets you easily and conveniently access government services online.

  • You can visit the Service Victoria website at service.vic.gov.au using the web browser on your computer or mobile devices.
  • You can also download the Service Victoria app from your mobile phone’s official app store.

What can government services do for me?

As well as managing your personal information, you can use government services to:

  • save money by applying for rebates
  • apply for discount or concession cards
  • find lost money
  • check when your car registration is due for renewal.

The service.vic.gov.au website has all the services you can access online, as well as information and guides. It’s best used with a computer.

The Service Victoria app allows quick access to some services and is used for checking in to locations by scanning a QR code. It can show your proof of vaccination, and more ID options are being added.

You can chat to Vicky for help

To get help on the Service Victoria website, you can chat to Vicky, the virtual customer service assistant. Click the Ask Vicky for Help button in the bottom right of the Service Victoria web page.

On other Victorian government services websites, look for the Call Us link to find a list of phone numbers you can call for assistance.

Storing your details on Service Victoria

You can Store your details on Service Victoria, by typing service.vic.gov.au/account in your web browser’s search bar. You also get an option to store details when you complete a transaction. To store details:

  1. Provide an email address.
  2. Choose a strong password.
  3. Provide a mobile phone number to receive an access code via text.
When you create your account, you can choose a strong password to protect it. Make sure not to use the same password as any other service or account.

Your Dashboard on Service Victoria

After you have stored your details, you can use your email and password to Log in to a page called My Dashboard.

At first, this page will be mostly blank. You can choose to have your transactions appear here on your dashboard.

Your dashboard is just for convenience, and doesn’t hold any important personal details, except for your mobile phone number.

Using the Service Victoria log in menu

When you are logged in to Service Victoria, you can see a Logged in button in the top right of the page. Click on this to see a drop-down menu:

  • My dashboard takes you back to the My Dashboard page
  • My settings lets you change the email or password you use to sign in, and update your contact details
  • My payment methods lets you save a credit card or other payment method for faster payment
  • My transaction history shows a list of transactions you’ve made on Service Victoria.

You can choose what data is shared

Service Victoria lets you choose what information is shared between it and other government agencies. When you complete a transaction, you can choose to have this saved on your Dashboard, or not.

Sometimes you will be directed to another website to complete a transaction. To get back to service.vic.gov.au you can click the Back button at the top of your browser, or type the address in.

Essential services you can access via Service Victoria

To access a service, click Find services at the top of the page, then choose a category from the drop-down menu. Some example services you can access include:

  • Transport and driving
  • Personal
  • Housing and property
  • Crime and the law

What to do if you get lost

If you’re ever unsure where you are on the Service Victoria site:

  • click the Service State Government symbol in the top left of the page to go back to the Service Victoria home page
  • click the Log in or Logged in button to see your dashboard.

Checking fuel prices with RACV

The Royal Automobile Club of Victoria (RACV) provides a handy free service for you to check fuel prices, at racv.com.au. You can see fuel prices on an interactive map and enter your postcode to see petrol prices near you.

Along with the highest, lowest, and average prices, RACV provides a useful don’t pay above price.

Using VicRoads and VicTraffic for all things roads

For everything to do with your Victorian driver licence and registration, visit Vic Roads at vicroads.vic.gov.au

To see current traffic conditions and check for disruption alerts, visit Vic Traffic at traffic.transport.vic.gov.au

For other information about roads, you can visit Transport Victoria at transport.vic.gov.au

Visiting Seniors Online Victoria

To find out about getting a seniors card, visit seniorsonline.vic.gov.au. This site also has a Discount Directory which lets you search for discounts and offers from businesses throughout Victoria.

Finding rebates on government service websites

Many Victorian government websites have links to rebates on the home page. Service Victoria has a section on the home page called Apply and Buy. Rebates may appear here, so check regularly.

Some other government websites have rebates and concessions too, including:

  • victorianenergysaver.vic.gov.au/ to find out about Victoria’s Household Energy Savings Package
  • ptv.vic.gov.au for all things public transport. Find out about Myki cards, get concessions, and find out about refunds and compensation.

Finding lost money

The State Revenue Office website (sro.vic.gov.au) can help you find and claim lost money. On the SRO home page, look for the Victorian Unclaimed Money Register, and then Search the register for unclaimed money.
