How to block a number on iPhone

This short guide is a reference tool to help refresh your knowledge or practise what you have learned in the How to block a number on iPhone online video course.

Step by step

You can set up your iPhone to automatically decline calls and text messages from certain phone numbers.

1. From the Home screen, tap the Phone icon to open the phone app.
2. Find the Recent icon at the bottom. It looks like a clock.
3. The Recent screen shows a list of the people or phone numbers who have called, with the most recent at the top.
4. Find the number that you want to block and tap the blue i icon to the right of it.
5. From the options that appear, scroll to find Block this Caller, which is red. Tap it.
6. From the pop up that appears, tap Block Contact to confirm you no longer want to receive phone calls, messages or Facetime video calls from the caller.
7. The pop up closes and Unblock this Caller appears at the bottom of the list, in blue.
8. If you change your mind, tap this to unblock the number and they will be able to call you once more.
