How do I update my email address on Be Connected?

  1. Sign in to Be Connected using the email address you registered with.
  2. Select the button in the top right corner with your name in it, then Profile. Note: if you're on a mobile, select your name from the ≡ Menu, then Profile.
  3. Select Edit your details.
  4. Enter your new email address then select Save changes at the bottom of the page.




How do I change my password?

  1. Sign in to Be Connected using the email address you registered with.
  2. Select the button in the top right corner with your name in it, then Profile Note: if you're on a mobile, select your name from the ≡ Menu, then Profile.
  3. Select Edit your details.
  4. Enter your new password then select Save changes at the bottom of the page.




I forgot my password and can’t sign back in.

  1. Select the Join / Sign in button in the top right corner.
  2. Select the Forgot your password? link under the Sign in button.
  3. Enter the email address you registered with.
  4. If the email address you provided matches the one associated with your account, you will receive an email with a link to reset your password.

What are the benefits of signing up to Be Connected?

When you register you can track your learning progress and see which courses you have already completed. You can also access extra learning material available only to registered members, such as our end-of-course quizzes and printable certificates when you complete a course.




How do I sign up?

  1. Select the Join / Sign in button in the top right corner. If you're on a mobile, select Join / Sign in from the ≡ Menu.
  2. Select the Join now button.
  3. Enter your full name, email address, and new password.
  4. Note: If you are a member of a computer class, enter the name of the community organisation in the Name of support centre field. Enter the first few letters of the organisation’s name to see a list of providers for you to select from. You can leave the field blank if you can't find the organisation’s name or if you are not part of a computer group.

  5. Select the checkbox if you would like to receive email updates from Be Connected about new learning resources.
  6. Select the Sign up for free button.

Keep your email address and password handy so you can sign back in next time you visit the Be Connected website.

Does Be Connected offer free tech help?

Yes, we have a large network of community organisations that offers computer classes or one-on-one tech help. To find your nearest provider, select Free classes from the menu, then Computer classes near you.

Enter your postcode or suburb in the search bar and a list of organisations in or around your area should appear. Select a provider from the list to see their contact details.




I can't locate an organisation in my area that offers tech help.

Try entering postcodes of nearby suburbs to find other community organisations near you.




I would like to stop receiving Be Connected newsletters.

If you have the Be Connected email open, you can unsubscribe by scrolling down to the bottom of the page and selecting Unsubscribe.

Alternatively, you can opt out of receiving emails via your Be Connected account. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to Be Connected using the email address you registered with.
  2. Select the button in the top right with your name in it, then Profile. Note: if you're on a mobile, select your name from the ≡ Menu, then Profile.
  3. Select Edit your details.
  4. Scroll down to the Newsletter and survey consent section and uncheck the box that says, I consent to receive emails from Be Connected.
  5. Select Save changes at the bottom of the page.




How do I check which courses I have completed?

There are two ways you can check your learning progress. First, sign in to the Be Connected site, then:

  • Select My dashboard in the menu, then View my Courses. This will show you a list of the courses currently in progress. For previously completed learning, see your Record of Learning.

    OR

  • Select Browse content and scroll down the page. A navy blue bar will appear in the middle of each course tile you have begun to show its completion rate.




  • Is it possible to print out the courses?

    Yes, we’ve created a summary for each of our online courses for you to print and keep. When you see an online course, scroll to the bottom of the page to find the printable guides in English, Arabic, Greek, Italian, simplified and traditional Chinese, Macedonian, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

    Can I change the text size on the Be Connected website?

    Yes, look for the three A’s in the top right corner of the page. Select the largest ‘A’ to increase the text size or the smallest 'A' to reduce it.




    Where can I find more information on protecting my personal information online?

    There are a number of websites that provide handy information about cyber security. 

    IDCARE is a free support service that provides advice on how to respond to cyber security concerns including identity theft, hacking, scams and lost or stolen credentials.

    Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) provides advice and information on how to protect yourself online.

    The eSafety Commissioner provides advice, resources and tools to help with online issues such as cyber bullying, image-based abuse and tech facilitated abuse.

    Scamwatch is run by the National Anti-Scam Centre which was set up to make Australia a harder target for scammers. It raises awareness about scams by educating the community about how to recognise, avoid, and report scams.
