Entertainment at your fingertips

The internet has changed the way we watch TV, films, and even home videos, as well as how we listen to music. Catch-up TV services, online music applications, and video sharing sites mean that we can watch and listen to just about whatever we want, whenever we want.

You don't even need to have a TV set – you just need to know where to look. This course will help you find out where to go and what to look out for.

Watch your step

Although it's fun to watch and listen online, there are a few things which are important to bear in mind before you get started.

Some websites which let you download and stream video or music are actually illegal.

Using these sites means that you can be prosecuted, so always watch and listen online safely using sites that you know to be legal. If you're not sure, stick to well-known names like ABC or Spotify.

Watching and listening to video or music uses up a lot of bandwidth (data), so make sure that you know what the data allowance is for your home broadband package or mobile internet contract.

Be careful not to go over the limit, or you might have a nasty surprise when the bill arrives.

Meet the family

Here's a family who could really benefit from watching and listening online. Let's find out who everyone is.

This is Darren, or 'Dad'. He likes watching car programmes and sports on tv.
