Welcome to the 'Sending a voice message on an iPhone' video course. In this video, you'll learn how to record and send a voice message using the Messages app on your iPhone. This can be quicker and easier than typing a message.
To start, open the Messages app from your Home screen. It's a green icon with a white speech bubble. When the Messages app opens, you can start a new conversation by tapping the new message icon in the bottom right corner and searching for the contacts you'd like to message from your contacts list.
For this demonstration, we'll tap on an existing conversation with a contact. Once the conversation view opens, look at the text box at the bottom of the screen. On the right side, you'll see an icon that looks like an audio wave. To the left of the text box is a circle with a plus sign in it. Tap on it.
A menu will appear. Tap Audio, and the recording will start straight away. Go ahead and speak your message clearly. "Yes, I'd love to catch up for lunch. Let's meet at the Blue Gum Cafe at 1 o'clock." When you're finished, tap the red Stop button on the right.
To listen to your message, tap the Play icon on the left. If you want to start again, tap the cross to delete the recording. If you're happy with the message, tap the Send arrow on the right to send the voice message. The recording will display in the conversation view.
Voice messages sent between iPhones are automatically deleted two minutes after being sent or listened to. To save an outgoing or incoming voice message on your iPhone, tap Keep underneath the message. When the word disappears, the message is saved to the conversation.
If you receive a voice message from a number you don't recognise, it's OK to delete it without listening. If you play it and it asks you to call back or tap a link, don't. It is most likely a scam.
