Welcome to the 'Using the Home button on an iPhone' video course. In this video, you'll learn where to find and how to use the Home button on an iPhone. The steps will be similar on an iPad.
The Home button opens the Home screen, which is the main place for accessing apps and other features. If you ever feel stuck or aren't sure how to return to your starting point, the Home button is the quickest way back to your Home screen. You can use it anytime your phone is unlocked, whether you are in an app or website, checking a message, or on a call.
There are two ways to access the Home button, depending on your iPhone model. If your iPhone has a physical button at the bottom centre of the screen, press it once to open the Home screen. The app you are using will be paused and sent to the background, so you can pick up where you left off later.
If you see a bar at the bottom centre of the screen, you will use a swipe gesture instead. Put your finger on the bar and swipe up to open the Home screen.
