Welcome to the 'How to search for an app on your Android phone' video course. In this video you'll learn how to use your Android phone's search feature to quickly find a downloaded app. This is useful when you have a lot of apps and can't see the one you want, or maybe the app is hidden in a folder, or you can't remember if you've already downloaded it.
This demonstration uses a Samsung phone and the steps will be similar on other Android models. From the Home screen, swipe up from the very bottom to open the Apps screen. Tap in the Search bar at the top. The keyboard will appear and you can start typing the name of the app you are looking for, such as WhatsApp.
If the app is installed on your phone, its icon will appear below the Search bar and you can tap on it to open the app. If the app isn't showing up, double-check that you've typed the name correctly. If the app still doesn't appear, it might not be installed yet.
To check, close the keyboard by tapping the down arrow at the bottom right, then tap the blue Search button. Some more search suggestions will appear. Scroll down until you see the box headed Google Play Store.
When you see the app icon, you can tap it to open Google Play and download it to your phone. As well as apps, search can help you find web pages, contacts on your phone, and more. To clear the current search information or start a new search, tap the small cross at the right of the Search bar.
