Welcome to the 'How to search for an app on your iPhone' video course. In this video, you'll learn how to use your iPhone Spotlight Search feature to quickly find a downloaded app. This is useful when you have a lot of apps and can't see the one you want, or maybe the app is hidden in a folder, or you can't remember if you've already downloaded it.
The steps in this video also work on an iPad. From the Home screen, you can start a search by tapping the small Spotlight Search button at the bottom. For this demonstration, however, we'll start by swiping down on the screen. This will open a screen with the Search bar in the middle and a keyboard below.
Start typing the name of the app you are looking for, such as WhatsApp. As you type, your phone will show results above the Search bar. If the app is installed on your phone, its icon will appear at the top of the screen under Top Hit. Tap on it to open the app. If you don't see your app, make sure you've typed the name correctly. If the app icon appears at the top, under Top Hit or App Store, and has a small App Store icon badge at the bottom right, the app is not yet installed on your phone.
On the right of the app icon will be a cloud icon or a Get button. Tap on it, and the app will download from the App Store to your phone. As well as apps, you can use Spotlight Search to find web pages, contacts on your phone, and more. To clear the current search information or start a new search, tap the small cross at the right of the Search bar.
