Welcome to the 'How to take a screenshot on your Android phone' video course. A screenshot, or screen capture, is a handy way to capture what you see on your phone screen. It can be a picture, text message, web page or app. It can be anything you want to remember, save, or share with someone.
This demonstration uses a Samsung phone and the steps will be similar on other Android phones. Never send screenshots of your personal information, such as passwords or credit card details, to another person. To get started, the screen should display what you want to capture.
In this demonstration, we'll screenshot a yoga class timetable. To take a screenshot, place a finger on the Volume Down button and another on the Power button. Hold both buttons at the same time for about a second. Then release them. You will see the screen flash, and if the sound on your phone is on, hear a camera shutter sound. This means the screenshot has been taken.
The screenshot will display as a thumbnail at the bottom left of the screen for a few moments, then disappear. It will then save automatically to the Gallery app. To view the screenshot, tap the Home button to go to the Home screen. Then tap the Gallery icon to open the Gallery app. The screenshot will appear with your photos and videos at the top of the grid. Tap on it to open it.
To send the screenshot to a friend, tap the Share icon at the bottom right. To delete it from your phone, tap the rubbish bin icon on the far right. To return to the Gallery screen, tap the back arrow in the top left of the screen. To see all the screenshots on your phone, tap Albums at the bottom of the screen, then tap Screenshots. If you no longer need a screenshot, it's a good idea to delete it to save space on your phone.
