Welcome to the 'How to take a screenshot on your iPhone' video course. A screenshot, or screen capture, is a handy way to capture what you see on your iPhone screen. It can be anything you want to remember, save, or share with someone, such as a picture, text message, web page, or app.
The steps in the video are similar on an iPad. Never send screenshots of your personal information, such as passwords or credit card details, to another person. To get started, the screen should display what you want to capture.
In this demonstration, we'll take a screenshot of a yoga class timetable. To take a screenshot, place a finger on the Side button, which is on the right side of your iPhone, and another on the Volume Up button, which is on the left side. Hold both buttons at the same time for a moment, then release them. You will see the screen flash and, if the sound on your phone is on, hear a camera shutter sound. This means the screenshot has been taken. The screenshot will display as a thumbnail at the bottom left of the screen for a few moments, then disappear. It will then save automatically to the Photos app.
To view the screenshot, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to go to the Home screen, then tap the Photos icon to open the Photos app. The screenshot will appear alongside your photos and videos, at the bottom right of the screen. Tap on it to open it.
To send it to a friend, tap the Share icon in the bottom left. To delete it from your phone, tap the rubbish bin icon on the right. To return to the Photos screen, tap the back arrow in the top left of the screen. To see all the screenshots on your phone, scroll down to Pinned Collections. Scroll across to the end of the row, and then tap Screenshots. If you no longer need a screenshot, it's a good idea to delete it to save space on your phone.
