Welcome to the "How to use Quick Share on an Android phone" video course. In this video, you'll learn how to wirelessly share a photo with a friend using Quick Share on a Samsung Android phone. Quick Share lets you wirelessly share photos, videos, contacts, locations, and files between devices that are in close proximity to each other.
You can use Quick Share on your Android phone to share files securely to Android phones and tablets, Chromebook computers, and Windows 10 and 11 computers. On some devices, Quick Share may be called Nearby Share, but it should work in a similar way. For this demonstration, we'll share a photo from one Android phone to another.
To use Quick Share, both phones must have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on. To check, use two fingers to swipe down from the top of the Home screen to open Quick Settings. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icons should be highlighted. Both devices must also have permission to send and receive files using Quick Share. To set permissions, find the Quick Share icon in Quick Settings and tap on it.
A pop up with some options will appear. "No one" means you can share only with your devices. "Contacts only" means you and people in your contact list can share files. "Everyone" means you and anyone with a Quick Share device can share files for 10 minutes. Choose this when you want to share files with someone who is not in your contacts. For this demonstration, we'll set both Android phones to "Contacts only". Tap Done to close the pop up.
Now, let's share a photo with a friend. To receive the photo, your friend's Android phone must have the screen switched on. Tap the Home button to return to the Home screen. Tap on the Gallery app, then tap a photo to select it. Then tap the Share icon at the bottom left of the screen. The Share menu appears with some options. Tap the Quick Share icon. After a moment, your friend's device will appear below "Share to devices nearby". Tap it to share the photo.
Your friend's phone should then receive a message saying that you'd like to share an image and give the option to Accept or Decline. If they accept, the photo will be saved to their Gallery app, and they can tap open to view the photo in full screen.
