How to block a number on an Android phone
This short video course shows you how to block nuisance callers on an Android phone. You'll learn how to:
- block a phone number from a list of recent calls
- un-block a previously blocked number on an Android phone.
Blocking a number on your phone can be useful if you are receiving scam phone calls or calls from people or organisations you don't wish to hear from.
Note: This demonstration uses a Samsung Android phone, but the steps for blocking calls on other types of Android phone will be similar, so you should still be able to follow along.

Welcome to the "How to block a number on an Android phone" video course. In this video, you'll learn how to block unwanted phone calls and text messages on a Samsung Android phone.
From the Home screen, tap the phone icon to open the Phone app. In the top right, tap the More menu. It looks like three vertical dots. From the list that appears, tap Settings, then tap Block numbers. There are a few options here and this demonstration will show how to block someone who has recently called you.
Tap Recents to show the list of numbers. It might include numbers you don't know as well as people from your contacts list. Find the nuisance caller in the list and tap it to select it. Now tap Done at the bottom of the screen to close the list.
That number now appears in the list of blocked callers and they won't be able to contact you. To start receiving calls and texts again from a blocked caller, simply tap the red minus sign next to their name or number to remove them from the list of blocked callers.
