Linking services
in myGov
Most government services are available online and, instead of having to visit individual websites and enter unique usernames and passwords for each service, you can access them all in once place using your myGov account.
This course shows you how to do this by linking each service to your myGov.
Let's start by watching Julie securely sign in to myGov and then link the Medicare service using the details she has already shared with Medicare.

Welcome to 'How to sign in to myGov and link a service'. myGov is a website that provides access to many government services from the one place using just a single username and password. To get the most from myGov, you need to link the government services you want to use to your myGov account.
In this video, Julie is going to link the Medicare service to her myGov account so she can use her computer to claim a refund for medical services. To get started, Julie types my.gov.au into her computer's web browser and clicks Sign in. Once the Sign in screen appears, she enters the email address she used when she created her myGov account. Then she enters the unique password she created for her myGov account. To check that it's really Julie signing in, myGov will send a unique code to the mobile phone number she provided when she set up her account. Julie types the code in to myGov to prove her identity. If she types it incorrectly, she won't be able to continue to the next step, so she enters each number carefully.
Now that Julie has successfully signed into her myGov account, she's ready to link the services she wants to use. She clicks the Link a service button in the middle of her myGov home page to see the options. From the list of services, she chooses Medicare and the Medicare service website will open. Julie answers that she is listed on a Medicare card and clicks Next. She enters her Medicare number exactly, along with her reference number, that's the number next to her name on the card. To be certain of Julie's identity, Medicare now wants her to confirm some information she has given Medicare in the past. Julie types her full name, date of birth, and her address. She confirms her banking details that are already recorded with Medicare, her Medicare card's expiry date, and her husband's date of birth. And that's it. Medicare is linked to Julie's myGov account, ready for when she wants to process a claim online.
Julie can now end her session safely by clicking the Return to myGov button and then securely signing out. You can watch how Julie makes a Medicare claim with myGov in the 'Claiming Medicare with myGov' course.
