Welcome to the 'Using the Medicare Express Plus app Main Menu' video course. In this video, you'll learn what features of the Medicare app you can access from the main menu. This demonstration uses the app on an Android phone, and the steps will be similar on an iPhone. To follow along, you must have already set up your Medicare app and have a myGov PIN ready to sign in.
To start, swipe up from the bottom of the Home screen to view the App screen. Let's open the Medicare app by tapping its icon on the Home screen. You will see the Welcome back screen and your first name. Tap on the green button that asks you to sign in as yourself. Now use the keyboard to enter your myGov PIN in the boxes and tap Sign in when you are ready.
The Medicare app main menu appears. This screen is a list of things you can do with the app and you can tap each item on the screen to see some more options or information. At the very top of the screen, you can see your name and information about when you last used the app. Below this welcome message, you can see the Tasks area. It probably says 'You have no current tasks', but sometimes Medicare might have an important message for you here. The rest of the screen is divided into Claims and Services.
You can use the Claims section to make a claim, view recent claims, or view your claims history. The Services section is for when you want to do such things as change your personal details. You can also check your vaccination record and access other services like MyMedicare. At the very bottom of the screen are some icons. You can see the Home icon is green because the app is still showing.
The main menu next to the Home icon is the Card icon. You can tap this to view your Medicare card. A picture of your Medicare card appears, but it's sideways so it fits on the long screen of your phone. This picture contains all the same information as your real Medicare card, including the expiry date, your Medicare number, and the number that appears next to your name if you have other family members on your card. These are all important details, so it's useful to have them on your phone if you forget to bring your Medicare card along to an appointment.
The third icon at the bottom of the screen shows an advanced Menu. Tap it to see a detailed list of other things the Medicare app can do. Now let's return to the main menu by tapping the Home icon. Make sure you tap the Medicare app's Home icon and not the Home button of your phone. Let's check your personal details using the My Details option in the Services section of the main menu. Tap My details to show the My details page. This includes your personal details, your address, your phone numbers, your bank details for receiving Medicare refunds, and your email address. You will need to scroll the page with your finger to see all of this information.
You can change any of these details by tapping the green Edit button under the section you want to change. When you're ready, you can press the close button marked with an X in the top right to go back to the main menu. You can try exploring the other options in the Services section to see what they do.
You've learned some of the features of the Medicare app main menu and what some of the menu options do. You've also learned how to view your Medicare card and update your personal details. If you're unsure about any steps, you can rewind the video. If you're ready to move on. There are many other courses to explore on Be Connected.
